The Writer's Inspiration

Mira was quiet again. "You've never been in that sort of situation, have you?" he whispered.

"once....when I was a kid.." Helaine said then went quiet.

Mira was silent for a few moments, his head bowed. "It's not that easy, is it?" he whispered sadly.

"Nope but later on I punched the lights out of em" Helaine said with a smirk.

Mira sighed. "I don't have the guts to punch someone," he muttered.

"Well you can change only if you want to change" Helaine said, kissing his cheek.

"I do," Mira whispered. "But I don't want to hurt people." He looked up at Helaine. "I know what it's like to be hurt, to be hit and sneered at and looked down on. I don't want anyone to feel that way because of me."

"Some of them won't listen if you don't do it" Helaine said, stretching.

Mira was silent and he shook his head slightly; he couldn't willingly hurt someone, even if it meant saving himself from whatever horror they wanted to perform on him. "I can't do it," he mumbled quietly. "I can't purposely hurt someone."

"Then you'll always be used by people..." Helaine said sadly.

Mira bowed his head. "Isn't there some way I can get away from it without hurting people?" he asked, looking up at Helaine.

"stay away from everyone" Helaine said, getting up to get some food.

Mira looked up and watched him. "Everyone?" he whispered.

"only way not to hurt anyone is not to know them or interact with them" Helaine said, making tea.

Mira bowed his head staring at the floor. "So, I should leave then," he mumbled quietly.

"I was only telling you the best way not to hurt anyone, never asked you to leave" Helaine said, waiting as the kettle was on the stove to boil.

"But that would also include you, wouldn't I?" Mira asked.

"Indeed it would but if it's you I wouldn't mind hurting" Helaine said with a wink.

Mira looked over at him. "If it's you, I wouldn't mind it," he said quietly.

(it being used for what other people use him for not the whole hurting thing)

"I meant you hurting me" Helaine said, walking over to him to kiss his cheek.

"I know exactly what you meant, Helaine," Mira replied. "And I still stand by what I said."

"Yes well I prefer not to use people for my own ends" Helaine said, hugging him.

Mira returned the embrace and nodded. "Thank you," he whispered, absently nuzzling against Helaine's neck.

Helaine grumbled as the kettle whistled to say it was done. "Would you like some tea?"

Mira pulled back and nodded slightly. "Please," he whispered.
