Oasis of Time

Tutankhamun smiled and led her towards Nefertiti and the woman smiled, gently embracing her. "It's a terrible shame you cannot stay with us longer," she said softly, caressing Amelia's cheek before she looked to Tutankhamun and nodded, stepping back. Tutankhamun smiled faintly and turned to face Amelia. He gently took her hands from her and lifted them to his lips, kissing her knuckles tenderly.
"I have something for you," he whispered softly and produced an absolutely stunning blue ring made up of a very valuable gem that was rare even in this era. He smiled and gently slipped it into her finger. "I know it's not much and, it's nowhere near as much as I want to give you."

'ah...but i have nothing to give you back..." Amelia said, amazed at the stunning blue ring.

Tutankhamun smiled and shook his head. "You don't have to," he said softly. "You've already given me the best five days of my life. And, I may not be around for it, but you've also given me a child. There is nothing more I could ask of you, except, to remember me; remember your time here and care for our child in the best way you can."

Tears filled her eyes as she nodded. "Forever and ever"

Tutankhamun smiled and nodded before he lightly kissed her lips, holding her close to him. Nefertiti watched silently, her own eyes glistening with tears as well.

Amelia hugged him tightly, kissing his lips sweetly.

Nefertiti sighed. "Alright, now you both need to sign this," she said, stepping around to a piece of papyrus that was laid out on the table the woman had been standing in front of.

"oh...okay" Amelia said as she let go of Tut.

Tutankhamun led her to the table and sighed softly. "You don't know our language, do you?" he asked softly.

"No I don't..." Amelia said, paling at what was on the papyrus as she didn't know what it read.

Tutankhamun smiled. "It's okay," he said softly and then started reading and translating for her what it said. Basically, it was pronouncing them husband and wife, ensuring that both were entitled to a divorce if the desire arouse; how Amelia was entitled to one third of Tutankhamun's income, which, him being Pharaoh, was quite a lot. Other than those main parts, there were parts that wouldn't really concern her, since she would be returning to her own time only too soon.

"Alright...could I just sign it in my own language?" Amelia asked with a nod, thinking how there weren't allowed divorces in her time.

Tutankhamun smiled. "If that's what you prefer," he said softly.

Amelia smiled and leaned over the table, signing her name.

Tutankhamun watched her quietly and leaned close to her, lightly kissing her cheek and hugging her lightly around the waist.

Amelia smiled, hugging him back.

Once she finished signing, he signed his own name in hieroglyphics. Nefertiti smiled as she watched them and nodded as the papyrus was signed. "Not glorious at all, but you are now husband and wife," she said to them. "Even if it is for such a short time."

"Thank you" Amelia said with a smile.

Nefertiti smiled and nodded. "I wish you both a pleasant last few days together in this time," she said softly.

Amelia blinked at the "in this time" but she thought nothing of it as she kissed tut's cheek.

Tutankhamun smiled. "How would you like to celebrate?" he asked softly.

"How would you normally celebrate?" Amelia asked, still in awe that she got to meet a great woman.

"With a great feast, dancing, music," Nefertiti replied softly. "Is that what you wish to have or would you prefer to have a small quiet celebration?"

"Just a quiet celebration might be best" Amelia said with a smile.

Nefertiti smiled and nodded slightly. "Shall I set up the preparations then, Pharaoh?" she asked, turning to Tutankhamun. She smiled. "Since I'm so good at making myself scarce." Tutankhamun smiled faintly and nodded.
"Sure," he replied. "I'd appreciate that a lot." Nefertiti smiled and nodded.
"Of course," she said and bowed slightly. "If you'll excuse me then." And with that, she turned and walked back into the palace.
